Alice in Wonderland

One of my interests and areas of expertise is ‘Alice in Wonderland’, especially concerning the origins and analysis of the books “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass and what Alice found there” by Lewis Carroll.

I’ve been interested in Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice’ stories since childhood. In high school, I started researching his books and at university I created a website about their background. Later, I got involved in several Alice in Wonderland related projects. I am now internationally known as an Alice in Wonderland expert.

Besides publishing on the topic, I also give lectures. I am available as a speaker on the ‘Alice’ books and their background.

I published a large part of the knowledge I gathered about the books “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass and what Alice found there” by Lewis Carroll on my website, Alice-in-wonderland.net.

I started the website in 1997 and it has since grown to become the most extensive Alice in Wonderland site on the internet!

Alice in a World of Wonderlands project

Between 2010 and 2024 I have contributed to the ‘Alice in a World of Wonderlands’ project, run by Jon Lindseth, in which we attempted to create a bibliography of all English language editions of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, “Though the Looking-Glass and what Alice found there”, “The Nursery ‘Alice’” and “Alice’s Adventures under Ground” in the world, as well as a bibliography of all translations of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass and what Alice found there” ever published in the world. The project resulted in a 5 volume publication.

Author of a third ‘Alice’ book

As someone who is very knowledgeable about Carroll’s ‘Alice’ stories, I wanted to attempt to write a third ‘Alice’ book, that would be very true to Carroll’s originals. Many people have written Alice in Wonderland ‘inspired’ books, that for example also take place in Wonderland, or have characters from Wonderland and/or Looking-Glass world in them, but I wanted a completely new adventure for Alice, with puns, parodies, poetry and satire as if Carroll had written it himself as another sequel. This became my first work of fiction: “Alice’s Adventures under Water“.
