For a fantasy event, I made a little hooded fleece vest with appliquées, to wear as a medium-warm extra layer on top of my costume.
I altered a basic sweater pattern and by eye, changed the sides so they ran more upwards at the front. Drawing the hood took some experimenting, but it now fits nicely over my head.
It was quite some work to stitch the appliquées by hand onto the vest, but it does make the garment so much prettier! Ideally I would have also embroidered veins onto the leaves, but I had not enough time left to do that. I will have to add them after the event.
