Many (bal)folk bands dress as if they just pulled the top garment from the stack in their closet without giving it a thought, but being both a musician and a marketeer, I want our outfits to reflect our house style. So I sewed two (almost) identical stage dresses for me and my fellow female band member.
Stage outfits can be very elaborate and outrageous, but that’s not our vibe and as we dance in it as well, it needs to be not only good looking, but practical as well. And airy, because on stage you sweat a lot! So I opted for knee-length dresses with short butterfly sleeves, in a purple fabric (which is our house style color).
I mirrored the direction of the gathered overlayer in the second dress, but otherwise they are the same model:
As our third band member is a guy, and not very interested in dresses, he will just be wearing a purple blouse. 😉
