I am practicing sewing skirts for my dressmaker course. I finished all the theory, so now it’s time to put the knowledge into practice!
Honestly, I’m not very fond of the type of skirts we learned to make. I don’t wear pencil skirts or pleated skirts, and I don’t like elaborate decorations, or pockets in a skirt. As I do want to actually wear what I make, I came up with something more my style. It turned out to be a rather easy pattern to draw: just 1 strip, that I had to cut 16 times. 😋
I also decided to try to use as much of my leftover fabrics as possible for these practice projects, instead of buying something new. I found a dark brown cotton that went very well with a patterned brown and white cotton! I only had to order the zipper.
The result:

Next time I would make the waistband a little wider, but otherwise I am quite content with the skirt!
