A team member at work had a baby and I decided to sew her a hooded baby bath towel as a present. In the past, I have sewn these kind of towels for many of my friends. I thought I’d show you some of them!
It all started in 2013 (hence the fuzzy phone cam pictures), when I was invited to a baby shower of a friend. I had a hard time coming up with a present, because most parents already have gathered a lot of baby stuff at the time the baby is born, and I did not want to give something they couldn’t use, or what would be the umptieth stuffed animal. That’s when I came up with the hooded bath towel – which is something not all parents think of acquiring, and would be easy to sew. And I could be creative with the shape, so it would become a very personalised present!
As these friends were fellow LARP-ers, I opted for a dragon shaped bath towel:

Isn’t that cute??
The towel was a big hit, and that encouraged me to sew more variants for other friends when they had babies:

Without exception, these bath towels were successful presents. Even after the babies had outgrown them: several of my friends told me that their kids still used them, either because they liked them so much, or because they used them to play dress-up!
But honestly, I’m glad most of my friends are no longer at the baby creation age, as it became rather hard to come up with fresh designs that would work as a bath towel! 😄
